ECD Function Shift – from DSD to DBE

During the State of the Nation Address in 2019, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that Early Childhood Development would shift from being the responsibility of the Department of Social Development to the Department of Basic Education. This function shift is on track to take place on 1 April 2022. Western Cape – Request for Banking Info

The Department of Social Development released a letter requesting ECD centres in the Western Cape to submit additional bank confirmation documents. Western Cape – Media Release 12 October 2021

The Western Cape Government released a media statement in October 2021, encouraging ECD centres in the Western Cape to register with DSD until migration to DBE is finalised.
