Teaching Treasures

Working with young children is hard work. Every day in South Africa, nearly 70,000 adults, mainly women, work with about 2 million children in Early Childhood Development centres. These are the heroes of our country.

These stories share the experiences of eight of these remarkable women. Each of them participated in the Siyabulela Consortium (Centre for Early Childhood Development, Grassroots, Sikhula Sonke, Qondisa, The Centre for Creative Education, College of Cape Town and Klein Karoo Voorskoolse Bronnesentrum) training of 500 ECD practitioners on a Level 4 Learnership funded by the Provincial Departments of Social Development and Education.
